MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- A Fredericktown, Mo., man has been charged with shooting a Bollinger County man in the back of the head Sunday.
Chad E. Bellew, 34, is being held in the Bollinger County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with felony first-degree assault and felony armed criminal action.
According to the Bollinger County Sheriff's Department, Richard Schroeder said he received the head wound early Sunday afternoon at his home on Highway HH in Bollinger County near Patton.
Despite his injuries, Schroeder drove approximately 4 miles to a neighbor's house where two teenagers passing by on four-wheelers noticed him.
He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where he is expected to undergo surgery to remove the bullet today.
Arrested Sunday night, Bellew is scheduled to appear in Bollinger County Circuit Court May 19.
