A man who authorities said traveled from Arnold, Mo., to Benton, Mo., to meet with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex had his case dismissed in Scott County court. Douglas Bone, 36, was originally charged with attempted statutory rape, sexual misconduct, and enticement of a child. An undercover investigator posed as a 14-year-old girl on the Internet and started chatting with Bone in November 2008. The two made an arrangement to meet in Benton Jan. 16. When he arrived, police were waiting for him. But before his court date Thursday before judge David Dolan, his case was dismissed.
