Work began recently on renovating the attic of the Wesley House at Southeast Missouri State University.
It will become the Upper Room Chapel and will be used for Tuesday evening student-led worship services, and communion services on Friday.
The style will incorporate the rustic look of the original construction.
Just over one fourth of the $4,500 needed for the project is in hand. The United Methodist Men units of the district have taken the lead in raising funds. The late Fred Smith of Maple United Methodist Church promoted the idea of the men's groups taking on the project.
