Police continued the conversation with him and arrested Windeknecht when he arrived at the park to meet what he thought was the 13-year-old girl. Windeknecht has been charged as a prior offender because of five previous felony convictions, including sexual abuse out of Cape Girardeau County in 1988 and statutory sodomy from St. Louis County in 1996.

Windeknecht has pleaded not guilty and was granted a change of venue to Jefferson County. Judge Mark Stoll will hold an arraignment hearing Dec. 21 in Hillsboro, Mo.
