Although the March 1 work group seminar sponsored by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce is geared especially for business owners and managers, Ken Parrett thinks a wide range of people could benefit from it.

"It's predominately for the businessman or businesswoman, but you can take those basics and expand those," said Parrett, executive director of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. "The principles would work for a sports team, a church, a school or a committee, as well as businesses all different types of settings where a team is involved."

The workshop, which Parrett will conduct, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. March 1 at the University Outreach Extension Center at 684 W. Jackson Trail Road. To register, call the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, at 243-8131.

It is free to chamber members and costs $25 for others.

"It covers how to form work groups, stages of development and how to accomplish goals through a team setting," Parrett said.

Meanwhile, Job Shadow Day is Friday. Parrett hopes to get as many businesses involved as possible. Jackson High School Future Business Leaders of America members will "shadow" a business professional for a half day, then exchange experiences with other "shadow" participants at the chamber office. The FBLA will also offer times on Wednesday and Thursday.
