The Missouri Department of Conservation will lead the conversation at the September First Friday Coffee event held by the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce.
However, despite its name, the event will take place on the second Friday of the month, Sept. 9, to accommodate Labor Day Weekend.
Deputy director Aaron Jeffries will discuss the department's history, citizen participation and the economics of conservation. He will highlight recent agency activities such as black bear research and elk restoration.
"It should be a good time," Jeffries said in an email.
First Friday Coffee events take place at Isle Casino's Event Center. They feature presentations from sponsors, followed by programs covering community, civic and business issues.
Doors open and a continental breakfast is served beginning at 7 a.m. The program begins at 7:40 a.m.
The event is open to chamber members, and there is no cost to attend.
