Incumbents will face a full field of challengers for three seats on the Scott City School Board, while school board races in Cape Girardeau and Jackson will go uncontested.

As of the filing deadline at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Scott City School Board president Scott C. Amick and fellow incumbent Sally Porch submitted candidacy papers for the April 5 election. Joining the race are Daniel Lance, Gary Haynes and Beth McDonough Cox, according to a district official. The top three vote-getters will win seats on the board.

It appears the three incumbents are heading back for another term on the Jackson School Board. Board president Terri Tomlin, T. Wayne Lewis and Bruce Thomas filed for re-election. No challengers declared candidacy as of Tuesday's deadline, according to a board of education official.

And there will be no new faces on the Cape Girardeau School Board. Incumbents Stacy Kinder and Tony Smee, and Don Call, appointed to the board last year, were the only candidates to file, according to Beth Poyner, administrative assistant for the Cape Girardeau School District.
