CHAFFEE, Mo. -- A Chaffee teenager remained in serious condition Wednesday night after he and his passenger were ejected during a rollover accident, authorities said.
Dru F. Armitage, 18, was driving eastbound on Route AB just south of Cape Girardeau's city limits when the accident took place, according to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Armitage was driving a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with passenger Haley N. Cato of Cape Girardeau when the Jeep ran off the right side of the road and overturned several times, the patrol said in its report.
Both were ejected from the vehicle, the patrol said, and neither was wearing seat belts.
Armitage and Cato were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment. The accident happened about 11:30 a.m. just past BioKyowa's plant.
Hospital spokeswoman Emily Sikes said Cato had been released from the hospital while Armitage remained in serious condition.
