Brian Obermann picked up the win in the opener, going 5 1/3 innings. He gave up all five runs on three hits and six walks. He struck out four. Josh Eftink pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Both Chaffee hurlers also had three hits at the plate. Lance Amick, Brandon Amick and Jason Harrell each had two hits apiece.

In the second game, Tommy Stidham suffered the loss, though his defense let him down on several occasions.

Stidham went the distance, giving up just two earned runs on four hits and four walks. He fanned six.

Tory Meyr provided three hits, while Jason Harrell had two.

SIKESTON -- The Chaffee Junior Legion baseball team won the District 14 baseball tournament Saturday night by defeating Cape 16-5 in six innings.

Chaffee, which went undefeated in the double-elimination tournament, had 20 hits, three by Lance Dohogne, John O'Rourke and Matt Stroup.

O'Rourke picked up the win allowing just three hits and three walks in five innings. He fanned six.

Cape beat Poplar Bluff 14-12 to advance to winner's bracket.

Chaffee (23-9) outscored its opponents 41-19 in the tournament.

Chaffee will play in the American Legion zone tournament later this week.
