CHAFFEE, DELTA TO OFFER PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee R-II and Delta R-V school districts are sponsoring preschool screenings March 12 and 13 at the First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

The screening March 12 will be held from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. On March 13, it will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Children from birth to 4 years of age will receive free screening checkups. These will include vision, hearing, speech and language, dental and developmental areas.

If a child will attend kindergarten in the fall of 1991, he or she is not eligible for this screening.

A team of trained health- and child-development specialists will conduct the screenings. Parent conferences will be held following each screening.

The screenings are free, but an appointment is necessary. The complete screening takes about one hour.

To make an appointment, parents should call the Parents as Teachers office at 887-6920 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
