COLUMBIA -- Interest in the Missouri Century Farm program is still strong.
"We're extending the program another year," said Roger Mitchell, University of Missouri-Columbia College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
A total of 4,385 farms have been recognized as "Century Farms" since the program was inaugurated in 1986.
To be eligible for the 1991 program, farms must have been owned by the same family for 100 years, as of July 4, 1991; the farm must consist of direct descendants only; the farm must have at least 40 acres and make a financial contribution to an overall farm income.
Additional information on the program is available by calling Shirley Calvin, (314)-882-8237.
