The workshop was held Aug. 5-9 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The students were accompanied by publications adviser Elizabeth Lockhart.
Students Lan Ha, Martha McCormick, Grant Rickard and Kimberly Robertson studied new and traditional concepts of journalism. Each student also attended seminars according to appointed staff positions on the school newspaper or yearbook.
Competing against at least 400 journalism students Rickard received a first place award for best layout and design and McCormick and Robertson received an honorable mention for their creation of an original theme packet for the 1991-92 yearbook.
