Central High School in Cape Girardeau has announced two centennial celebrations, including an event today for former volleyball players and coaches and the resurrection of a speaker program that kicks off Friday.

The high school has invited all former volleyball players and coaches to be guests to the home volleyball game today, beginning with a junior varsity match at 6:30 p.m. Between the junior varsity and varsity matches, the school will recognize on the court all former players and coaches in attendance, according to a news release. The school is also asking that their special guests to wear their vintage or contemporary Tiger orange and black.

On Friday, state Sen. Jason Crowell, who is a Central alumnus, is scheduled to be the first Lyceum speaker, which brings back a program from the past that asks guests to speak on a regular basis, the release said. Crowell will be the first Lyceum guest in more than five decades, the release said. Crowell will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the school's library.
