CENTRAL CHOIRS WILL PERFORM TUESDAY NIGHT

The Cape Girardeau Central High School choirs will perform Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The Central Chamber Choir and the Men's and Women's Contest Choirs will perform.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

Dina Strickert, who directs the choirs, said the students will perform songs they will be singing for a Southeast Missouri district contest. The district contest will be held at Southeast Missouri State University on March 26.

Tuesday's performance by the Chamber Choir will include "The Coolin" by Samuel Barber and William Byrd's "Ave Verum Corpus."

The Men's Choir will perform "Down Among the Dead Men" by Ralph Vaughn Williams and "Deep River" by Roy Ringwald.

The Women's Choir will perform "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need" by Virgil Thompson and "How Sweet the Moonlight Sleeps" by Robert Young.

The entire performance is expected to last less than an hour, Strickert said.
