CENTRAL BAND WINS FIRST AT MISSOURI SHOW ME BOWL

The Cape Girardeau Central High School Marching Band placed first in its division in the Missouri Music Bowl at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg Saturday. Its color guard also placed first in the division.

The band captured these other honors:

-- Highest in music and marching scope among all three divisions.

-- Third among the 30 bands in the morning preliminary competition, qualifying to be among the 10 best bands in the evening competition.

-- A tie for second place in overall competition, one point behind the winning band from Blue Valley High School, Blue Valley, Kan.

-- A tie in the finals with Francis Howell North High School and Willard High School.

-- A tie with Blue Valley, the overall winner, for best music in the evening finals.
