The Cape Central Marching Tigers won second place in the Class B competition at Washington High School in Washington, Mo., Saturday afternoon. The competition came after the band marched in the Southeast Missouri State University Homecoming Parade Saturday morning.
The band earned the highest scores in its class in the categories of marching and maneuvering, music execution and music general effect.
Thirty-eight bands competed on Saturday. The Tigers were judged with nine other bands, representing schools with enrollments of 1,001 to 1,799 students. The second-place score was 0.7 of 1 percent lower than the winning band's score.
Several thousand people were in attendance, including dozens of Cape Central Band Boosters.
On Saturday, the band will travel to Alton, Ill., for its third contest of the year and the first in Alton.
The remaining two competitions this year will be held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and the high school in Park Hills.
