Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations planned at SEMO
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The official kickoff for the campus activities will be held Thursday at noon on the steps of Academic Hall.

Friday
6:30 p.m. Candlelight March will start at the University Center.
7 p.m. Fifth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community celebration at the First Baptist Church, 926 Broadway.
Monday
8 a.m. The 10th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast Buffet at the Show-Me-Center.
Anita F. Hill, law professor at the University of Oklahoma, will be the featured speaker. Tickets are $6.25 and must be purchased in advance. For information, call 651-2273.
2:30 p.m. Performance by music instructor Adrian Walker at Academic Auditorium.
4:30 p.m. Around the World Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at University Center Ballroom.
6 p.m. Multicultural Fashion Show at the University Center Ballroom.
7:30 p.m. "One Man's Quest for the Dream," will be presented by Terrence Freeman at Academic Auditorium.
8:15 p.m. "Spiritual Odyssey," a history of music will be presented by Phillip Mentor at Academic Auditorium.
Tuesday
7 p.m. A community dialogue titled, "Has his dream been achieved?" will be held at the University Center Ballroom.
Wednesday, Jan. 18
Noon. The film, "An Early October," will be shown at the Riverboat Room of the University Center.
Thursday, Jan. 19
8 p.m. "The Yellow Boat," a dramatic production, will be performed by the Metro Theater Company at Academic Auditorium. Tickets are $4 for the public; $2 for senior citizens and children; and free to university students and faculty with an identification card. For more information, call 651-2141.
9 to 11 p.m. Social Era Dance at the University Center Ballroom.
Thursday, Jan. 26
7 p.m. "The Meeting," a play about the lives and philosophies of King and Malcolm X, will be performed at Academic Auditorium.
Several displays honoring King will be exhibited in the Missouriana Room, Indian Room and the Program Lounge in the University Center and also at Kent Library. Students in Cape Girardeau public schools can also participate in a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. art contest. The drawings will displayed in the Program Lounge at the University Center.
