Cape Girardeau police fielded a report Tuesday from a man who said cash and a cellphone had been stolen from him by a man with a gun.

The complaint was filed at the Cape Girardeau Police Department at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police spokesman Darin Hickey. The robbery is alleged to have happened earlier that afternoon, Hickey said, when the man was in the 200 block of South Ellis Street to meet someone.

As he walked toward a house, the victim said, he was approached by a man in his early 20s who was wearing a brown hoodie and black jeans, Hickey said. The victim said the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim, took the phone and an undetermined amount of money, and fled on foot.

The victim was not injured in the incident and no arrests have been made, Hickey said.
