CASA program receives a dozen new volunteers

New Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteers of Southeast Missouri were sworn in by Judge Scott E. Thomsen recently. The group of 12 brought CASA of Southeast Missouri's current volunteer total to 48.

CASA volunteers have completed 30 hours of special training and serve as advocates for abused and neglected children under jurisdiction of the 32nd Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court in Cape Girardeau, Bollinger and Perry counties.

CASA has more than 50,000 volunteers nationwide. There are 500,000 children in foster care nationwide.
