CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- A man is in custody after stabbing a Caruthersville woman in the neck.
At 12:47 a.m. Friday, Caruthersville police responded to a stabbing report in the 900 block of Adams Street. Officers found a 30-year-old woman in front of the residence and provided first aid to the victim until the arrival of the ambulance.
The woman was taken by helicopter to The Med in Memphis, Tenn., where she is listed in critical condition, according to a news release from Caruthersville city marshal Chris Riggs.
A 56-year-old man was arrested and is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. His name is not being released pending the filing of formal charges.
