Caruthersville police investigating shooting death

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- A shooting death is under investigation by the Caruthersville Police Department.

At 9:51 p.m. Friday, Caruthersville officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the 300 block of East Seventh Street. According to Caruthersville Chief of Police Tony L. Jones, when officers arrived they found a man unresponsive in the driver's seat with a single gunshot wound.

The man was transported by EMS to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

"This is being investigated as a homicide at this time," Jones said in a news release.
