NEW MADRID, Mo. -- A New Madrid County, Missouri, jury has found a Caruthersville, Missouri, man guilty of the killing of Rodney Maxwell in 2013.
Kevin Tyrone Tilson was found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action after appearing before a jury in New Madrid County. His trial began Monday.
Tilson was charged with shooting Maxwell to death during a robbery May 10, 2013, in Caruthersville.
The case was investigated by the Caruthersville Police Department, Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, leading to several arrests. The case was turned over for prosecution to the Missouri attorney general's office by the Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney's office.
Tilson requested a change of venue, and the case was tried in New Madrid County. Sentencing is set for Nov. 11.
