JACKSON, Mo. -- An alleged carjacker appeared briefly in court Monday.
Robert W. Wiley, 24, of Liberty, Ill., is charged with two felony counts of second-degree robbery and felonies of resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
On Monday, he appeared with his attorney, public defender Bryan Keller. The case was continued in order to allow more time for discovery.
He's accused of a Jan. 4 purse-snatching incident that escalated into a carjacking and high-speed chase through the city.
Once discovery in the case is complete, Wiley will go straight to trial. On Jan. 31 he waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Wiley's next appearance will be Feb. 25 before Judge John Grimm. He remains in the Cape Girardeau County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
