Car rolls over man's leg in Perryville

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A Perryville man was hospitalized Wednesday night after the car he was working on rolled over his leg.

According to Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf, Charles Beckermann, 48, was working on his car at about 10 p.m. when the vehicle began to roll backward. Beckermann, during what Schaaf said was likely an attempt to prevent the car from getting away from him, fell to the ground and hit his head while the car rolled over one of his legs.

Schaaf said a friend of Beckermann's called 911 and an ambulance arrived to take Beckermann to Saint Francis Medical Center. Beckermann's condition on Thursday was unknown, Schaaf said.
