Car dealer sentenced to prison for helping drug dealer launder

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The owner of a Blue Springs car dealership has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for laundering drug money, U.S. Attorney Todd Graves said.

Andrew S. Holloway, 42, of Blue Springs, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, where he admitted he helped a drug dealer conceal his use of large amounts of cash by creating false sales documents that understated the sales price of a vehicle.

The false sales documents were created to avoid the need to file documents with the IRS and to conceal the method of payment, Graves said.

Holloway, the owner of Car Outlet, pleaded guilty in August to charges of conducting a financial transaction that involved the proceeds of an unlawful activity and knowing the transaction was designed to avoid a federal transaction reporting requirement.
