SIKESTON, Mo. -- A car crashed into two houses on Murray Lane in Sikeston Sunday, but how the car ended up there is still unknown, according to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

The car, driven by 53-year-old Barbara Shannon, of Sikeston, hit the two homes when it ran off the road traveling east in the 500 block of West Murray Lane. A flurry of 911 calls about the crash came in at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the news release.

The car apparently went through a fence and hit the corner of one of the homes before crashing directly into the other. No one was at home at either residence, police said.

Shannon was injured and was flown to Saint Francis Medical Center, though her condition was unknown when the news release was drafted.
