EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been changed to correct the spelling of a name.A two-car accident at the intersection of Themis Street and Pindwood Lane in Cape Girardeau on Thursday morning resulted in extensive damage to the residence of Joe Margrabe when a car crashed into the house.
However, the drivers of the two vehicles were not injured in the accident. A female driver, in her 40s or 50s, according to a Cape Girardeau police officer on scene, was taken away in an ambulance complaining of chest pains after the accident occurred.
Jonathan Popp of Cape Girardeau said he was traveling east on Themis Street when he swerved at the intersection to avoid hitting another vehicle that pulled in front of him that was traveling north on Pindwood Lane. Popp then crashed into Margrabe's residence.
Margrabe said he was sleeping at the time of the crash.
"They go too fast down this street," he said. "Now I'll have to find a place to live for the next month."
Police officer Jay Freeman said the female driver was cited for failure to yield and Popp was cited for not having a license or car insurance.
