A 14-year-old Jackson girl was injured Saturday as she walked toward the doors of the Cape Girardeau Sears store.
Elizabeth Toole was outside the store when a car knocked her through the glass entrance. The car also went through the doorway, coming to rest inside the store, Cape Girardeau police reported. The accident happened at 2:40 p.m.
Toole was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises.
The driver of the car, Myrtle Hawkins, 68, of McClure, Ill., was pulling into a parking space and mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, police said.
