A 43-year-old Cape Girardeau woman faces a misdemeanor assault charge after she threatened a Hamburger Express employee at the restaurant's drive-through window on Tuesday.
Cape Girardeau County prosecutors on Wednesday charged Gena Lynn Davis of 709 Albert St. with third-degree assault. If convicted, she could be sentenced to one to 15 days in the county jail or a fine of up to $300 or both.
She is currently free on $1,000 bond.
Davis is the wife of Ron Davis who manages Hamburger Express, located at 902 William.
Police said Gena Lynn Davis drove up to the drive-through window at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday and threatened restaurant employee Edna Marie Kuykendall. Police said Davis brandished a gun case believed to contain a shotgun.
She then fled the scene and was arrested at her home about 15 minutes after the incident. Police searched the house and confiscated a shotgun.
Patrolman Jason Selzer said the threat was prompted by a "money" dispute between Davis' son and Kuykendall's son who is employed at the restaurant.
Police on Tuesday reported the threat was made directly to Kuykendall's son. Selzer said on Wednesday that wasn't the case.
