VFW past national president Glenneta Vogelsang of Cape Girardeau joined other key leaders of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW of the United States at its 2004 National Midyear Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Conference highlights included a presentation of the Better World and Kindness, Love and Peace Awards. Country singer Lorrie Morgan received the Better World award; $15,000 was donated to the Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund to help country stars who are down on their luck.

Honored with the Kindness, Love and Peace Award was Staff Sgt. Felicia Parker, who assisted many other women serving in Iraq when she asked the Ladies Auxiliary VFW to send items that were difficult to get.
