Sarah Lah of Cape Girardeau has been named National Coed Hostess representing Missouri at the National Miss American Coed Pageant to be held today through Aug. 27 in Hawaii.
Lah, 17, is the daughter of David Lah and the late Geraldine Lah.
She was given the chance to earn her title as a National Coed Hostess by selling the most ads in the pageant book at the state level. State pageants are held in nearly every state and are open to girls between the ages of 16 and 19.
The Missouri pageant was held in Kansas City June 21-22. She recently sold more ads locally in order to complete requirements for the position as a national hostess.
The pageant emphasizes physical fitness, mental alertness and self confidence. It also recognizes young women for their contributions to the community.
1991 is the eighth anniversary of the American Coed Pageants.
