A Cape Girardeau teenager was in jail Friday on charges he tried to sell a stolen handgun.
Tavious L. Tipler, 17, faces charges of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the case, according to a news release from the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
About 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Cape Girardeau police officers and the SEMO Drug Task Force investigated a case in which someone was suspected of trying to use social media to sell a handgun that had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction, the release stated.
Officers later arrested Tipler in a parking lot at 612 S. Sprigg St., the release stated.
Tipler's bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety.
