They were among 24 junior high and high school students from the Bootheel to take part in the week-long camp, sponsored by the university's college of health and human services, the Southeastern Missouri Area Health Education Center, an affiliate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri Hospital. The camp was designed to introduce students to health professions.

Attending were Rachel Followell, Giboney Juden, Tahisha McBride, Ayondela Ray, Nanda Somarajan and Michelle Winkler.
