CAPE STUDENT TO TOUR EUROPE WITH BAND, CHOIR

George D. Aplin of Cape Girardeau will participate with the Missouri Ambassadors of Music in a 16-day tour of seven European countries June 16 to July 1.

The Missouri Ambassadors includes select concert and jazz bands and choir. Students were chosen on the recommendations of their high school music teachers.

The group includes 140 students and 25 band and choir directors who will serve as rehearsal assistants and chaperones.

The tour includes concerts and sightseeing in London, Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein and Germany.

The group will spend three days rehearsing on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University and will present a farewell concert June 15.

Serving as tour music director is Southeast coordinator of applied music and ensembles Robert M. Gifford.

Aplin is a student at Cape Girardeau Central High School.
