CAPE STUDENT SELECTED FOR LEADERSHIP SEMINAR

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Jane Thorpe of Cape Girardeau has been selected to attend the 1991 National Young Leaders Conference Feb. 19-24 in Washington, D.C.

She will be among 350 high school students from across the nation at the conference for outstanding young leaders sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.

Throughout the six-day conference, the scholars will meet with leaders and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media and the diplomatic corps.

Thorpe is a student at Cape Central High School, where she is president of Future Business Leaders of America, and a member of Student Senate, National Honor Society, varsity tennis team, pom pon squad, chamber and show choirs.

She is also a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church.

She plans to attend Princeton University and pursue a career in law.
