CAPE STUDENT EARNS NAVAL SCHOLARSHIP

Luke Balsamo of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Naval Reserve Training Corps scholarship for study at the University of Rochester.

Balsamo is a junior at the school.

The Naval Reserve Training Corps educates and trains students to serve as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps.

While a student is an undergraduate, NROTC covers the cost of tuition, fees, textbooks, and uniforms, and pays for a small monthly allowance. Scholarship recipients agree to serve eight years or more, four of which must be on active duty.

Balsamo is a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School.
