The Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Scott and Cape Girardeau counties has been included in the National Senior Service Corps "Best of the State Report" to demonstrate accomplishments for the state.

"This is indeed a real honor for our program," said Tina McDowell, administrator of the RSVP program. "There are approximately 23 RSVP programs in the state, and that includes programs in your major cities like Kansas City and St. Louis. So you can see there is a lot of competition here since we are just a rural program."

RSVP volunteers are men and women 55 or older who serve the community in a variety of projects.
