Members of the Cape Girardeau School District facilities planning committee will discuss plans for nine of the district's buildings tonight.
A steering committee made up of teachers, administrators and board members has been working on a long-term facilities plan for the district.
The group is meeting at district administrative offices at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the final phases of the plan. Neil Glass, director of administrative services said he will have a rough draft of the plan by Sept. 21, the next school board meeting.
Glass said the committee will be evaluating ideas and cost analyses for each building. Architect Phillip Smith and engineer Mark Strickland will be at the committee meeting to address technical questions, he said.
The group last met in June to evaluate floor plans for Franklin Elementary School and discuss whether to rebuild or renovate the school. District officials have said they would like to approach voters with a no-tax-increase bond issue in April.
