The Cape Girardeau School Board has chosen a local firm to lead a new strategic-planning process for the school district.
Hendrickson Business Advisors will be paid $21,965 to help constituents identify things they would like to see accomplished in the next five years.
Superintendent Jim Welker said at the board’s regular meeting Monday night such a process has not been undertaken in the district for about six years, and most of the goals set out in the last plan have been accomplished.
The new process will take place in three phases from July to December.
During the first phase, five focus groups will be assembled to pinpoint important issues, according to a proposal document. The groups will be made up of students, parents, district staff and community members and will have eight people per group.
In the second phase, surveys will be distributed based on the points brought up during the focus group sessions.
Last, a steering committee with 25 members will come up with a new plan.
