Cape resident sentenced on drug-related charges

A Cape Girardeau man was sentenced Monday on charges of possessing cocaine base with the intent to distribute.

Marques Antonio Terry, 24, was sentenced to 120 months on one felony count of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Richard Webber.

On Dec. 13, 2001, police executed a search warrant at Terry's home at 916 S. Ellis. Officers found .29 grams of cocaine base in a mailbox attached to the front of the residence. They also found a Crown Royal bag containing 18.4 grams of cocaine base, an electronic scale and a razor between Terry's residence and the gas meter for the house next door. Terry later admitted the drugs were his.

Assistant U.S. attorney Paul W. Hahn handled the prosecution.
