CAPE RESIDENT EARNS HER DOCTORATE DEGREE AT SIU

Nancy Westrich Baker will receive her doctorate degree Saturday from Southern Illinois University at the SIU Arena.

In June, Baker defended her dissertation, "The Effect of Portfolio-based Instruction on Composition Students' Course Grades, Final Examination Scores, and Attitudes Toward Writing."

She is the coordinator of writing assessment and a member of the English faculty at Southeast Missouri State University. Baker is the daughter of Viola Westrich and the late Leon P. Westrich. She and her husband, Virgil, have one son Brandon.
