The Cape Girardeau Police Department will be running a Citizen's Police Academy from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings starting Feb. 21 in the training room at police headquarters, if there is enough public interest in the program, according to a news release. The training will be seven weeks long and is designed to familiarize residents with the daily activities and services of the police department. A primary goal of the academy is to enhance the spirit of cooperation between the police department and the community, the release said.
