The Cape Girardeau Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies will gather to host National Night Out on Thursday.
Events begin at 4:30 p.m. at Target, 202 Siemers Drive, and will conclude at 8 p.m.
National Night Out is an annual event designed to "strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners," said a news release from the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Those attending Thursday will have an opportunity to check out various patrol vehicles, including the Southeast Missouri Regional Bomb Squad truck/robot and the Breath Alcohol Test van. The Special Response Team and K-9 unit also will provide demonstrations.
The first 100 children will receive free Target activity bags and a limited number of free Child ID kits will be made available.
A Neighborhood Roll Call will begin at 7 p.m. at the same location.
