An unidentified woman was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Sunday evening after she drove her moped into another vehicle, police said. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but police said they had the driver identified and were searching for him.
The collision took place at about 6 p.m. at the corner of Sprigg and Independence streets, when scanner traffic revealed that a woman had hit a car and was "on the pavement." The driver fled, but was not injured, according to the department. While the extent of the moped driver's injuries were unknown, police said they were not thought to be critical.
