This week, the police department reported two accounts of rape in the Cape Girardeau area.

However, the reports aren't believed to be related, said Sgt. Adam Glueck.

Both reports were delayed. The first, which came Monday, was delayed "a considerable amount of time," Glueck said.

The second report was on the Wednesday evening police report.

"There is no statute of limitations for the crime of forcible rape in Missouri. Both investigations are ongoing," he said in an email. "In order to protect the victim and investigation, I won't release the location or other information about the victim."

The reports have different victims and different suspects, but the time frame is part of the investigation, which is why it is being kept confidential, Glueck said.
