Cape Girardeau police are investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday night in the 2800 block of Whitener Street.
Police received a report of the shooting at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Adam Glueck of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said in an email.
The victim, who had been shot once, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Glueck wrote.
The victim told police he was entering an apartment building on Whitener when he was shot by one of two men standing near the building, Glueck wrote.
No suspects are in custody, and the investigation continues, Glueck wrote.
