Cape Missouri Veterans Home announces volunteers of the year

More than 200 regular volunteers contributed more than 24,000 total volunteer hours at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau from 2003 to 2004. Volunteers trained in the international Stephen Ministry visitation program made over 1,000 personal visits with residents during that time. Those efforts were recognized at a luncheon to honor all the work the volunteers have done.

Two outstanding volunteers, both nearing 9,000 total hours, include Euil Trickey, Masonic Service Association home representative, and Barbara Yallaly, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary home representative.

Other volunteers, serving 6,237 to 2,000 hours, include Vergie Templeton, Junior Birkman, Naomi McClard, Frieda Howard, Lillian Birkman, Jim Tindall, the late Hal Scowden, James Haynes, Harry Humph-rey, Betty G. Cato, Doyle Mouser, Bob McLemore, Shirley Welter, Dorothy Klein, Al Mason, Jim Foster, Clause Estes, Mildred Foster and Jewell Lincecum.

Volunteers serving 1,999 to 1,000 hours are Don Adams, John Sonderman, Lavern Van Weelden, Jim Harnes, Gary Estes, Fern Schlimme, Fern Shultz, Ginger Beaudean, Gladys Lawrence, Lois Woodford, John Yallaly, Glennetta Vogelsang, Marge Kracke, Robert W. Harper, Betty Hahs, Rupert Fiehler, Neal Edwards, Charles Shultz and Charles Hutson.

Volunteers serving 999 to 600 hours include John Powers, Charlotte Hecht, Barbara Slinkard, Jim Englehart, Shirley Porter, Betty Myre, Paul Bell, Bob Landgraf, Caryn Michel, Carlton Meyer, Ginny Jones, Claire Campbell, Norman Seabaugh, Clinton Gerler, Doris Meier, Eddie Schreiner, Myrna Powers, Pamela Davis, Marie Brantley and Brenda Turner.

Volunteers serving 599 to 400 hours are Pete Rhodes, A.J. Seyer, Lawrence Meier, Walt Wildman, Jim Slinkard, Earl Statler, Carolyn Schreiner, Myrtle Allen, Verna Lee Nitsch, Pat Renard, Gladys Siebert, Dorothy Siebert, Lee Flor, Naomi Lee, Melvin Eggiman, Ruth Strack Hunze, Betty E. Cato, Bonnie Smith and Louie Organ.

Volunteers serving 399 to 300 hours are Bob Seabaugh, Marjorie Grindstaff, Steve Whitney, Albert Blattel, Harold Moore, Dale Wolfenkoehler, Doyle Schwitz, Jess Hopple and Stan Popp.

Volunteers serving 299 to 200 hours are Bill Engleman, Ray Drury, Linda Hutson, Evelyn Ritche, Bob Williams, Mary Mouser, Judy Moore, Paul Beussink, Pauline Nitch, Hazel Clippard, David Crader, Irene Tindall, Pat Lynn, Joe Cullen, Leonard Adams and Ron Bollinger.

Volunteers serving 199 to 100 hours include Buddy Parrish, Marsha Parrish, Sharon Snell, Lisa Brown, Johnny Schlenker, Lillian Abernathy, Carmen Simpher, Jimmy Whittaker, Jennifer Kirchhoff, Bill Harris, Edna Wolfenkoehler, Kacey Tucker, Terry Crowell, Willa Stanford, Linda Boxdorfer, Kristi Meier, Myrtle Lee Patterson, Lucille Frederick, Nita Brazel, Jeanette Niederkorn, Thelma Kingsbury, Wayne Maupin, Gilbert J. Clements and Inez Knott.

Seven resident veterans, Bill Walker, Hugh LeDure, Charles Clippard, Harold Nothdruft, Lillian Burgfeld, George Bockhorst and Doris Cobaugh, are also part of the volunteer corps.
