Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery at a Cape Girardeau convenience store Monday night, with the clerk telling police a man with a gun got away with an unknown amount of cash.
A clerk who works at Cape Mart, 238 N. Fountain St., called police about 9:40 p.m. Monday to report the robbery, according to Darin Hickey, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department. The unidentified clerk described the suspect as being taller than 6 feet, thin and dressed in dark clothing, Hickey said. The man then reportedly revealed a handgun and demanded money, Hickey said, before he fled the scene on foot.
No suspects were in custody late Wednesday, Hickey said, but added police continue to investigate.
