A Cape Girardeau man was shot several times and killed Thursday night in a west-end neighborhood of St. Louis, police said.
Metro police went to a shots-fired call at 11:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of Cates Avenue, according to St. Louis public-information officer Schron Jackson.
They found Travis S. Scales, 35, unconscious in the street with several bullet wounds, Jackson wrote in an email.
Scales later was pronounced dead at the scene, Jackson wrote.
Police have no known suspects in the homicide investigation, Jackson wrote.
Scales was found in a section of Cates Avenue with several abandoned buildings, according to reporting from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
No other information in the case was released to the media, Jackson wrote.
Scales had a listed address in the 200 block of South West End Boulevard in Cape Girardeau, Jackson wrote.
Scales also listed an address in the 200 block of South West End Boulevard when he pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery May 18, 2010, receiving a 10-year prison sentence from Judge Benjamin Lewis.
Scales was paroled Jan. 14, 2015, according to Missouri Department of Corrections public-information officer David Owen.
