A Cape Girardeau man was sentenced Tuesday in federal court on charges of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute. Brian L. Cayce, 37, was sentenced to 50 months on one felony count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel. Cayce also agreed to forfeit $21,350 to the U.S. government. According to court papers, on June 9, a Jackson police officer saw Cayce place a package under a bush near the back of his home in Cape Girardeau. A police officer investigated and seized the package, which police say contained 250 grams of powder cocaine. Cayce later admitted that he was in possession of the cocaine and that he intended to distribute it. Cayce also admitted that the $21,350 was drug proceeds.
